Shelton, renamed twice before becoming a city
Shelton was settled as part of Stratford in 1639, known as Coram and later Ripton, incorporating separately in 1789 as Huntington before renaming for manufacturer Edward N. Shelton's mill village in 1882 and becoming a city in 1915. A plumbing project in one of Shelton's 1880s manufacturing-era homes should expect systems added in stages since that renaming and industrial boom.
